NPCC’s Setera Michaels signs with UNK

Platte Community College Lady Knights volleyball standout Setera Michaels has
signed with the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
“I’m extremely nervous, but also super excited about playing there,” Michaels said. “At first I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do, but then I decided I should make the most of the opportunity. It will give me a chance to play for another couple of years and I don’t want to have any regrets later.”
Michaels, daughter of Pam Leggott and Lance and Tammy Michaels of North Platte, said she has been involved in sports since she was a young girl.
“Sports have always been a part of my life,” she said. “I’m a positive person and I like to use that to support and encourage my teammates.”
Michaels said when it came time to choose a college she wanted to stay close to home.
“NPCC was a great place to start,” she said. “I’m a huge family person and I got to stay close to them. I also made many lifelong friends at the college.”
NPCC Lady Knights coach Sally Thalken said she expects Michaels to do well at the NCAA Division II school.
“She is extremely athletic, talented, and volleyball savvy,” she said, adding, “She just loves to play the game.”
