Alexa Hopping
North Platte Community College Knights volleyball
player Alexa Hopping has signed a letter of intent to attend
classes and play volleyball at Concordia University in Seward.
The 5′6″ setter is the daughter of Troy and Missy Hopping of
Sutherland.
“I chose Concordia because it is a good teaching school, so it should be a good choice education-wise,” said Hopping, adding that she hopes to become a teacher and a coach in the future. “I also really liked the girls and the coach there.”
During her time at NPCC, Hopping received numerous awards and honors. In 2009, she was named to the NCCAC All-Conference Team, the All-Region IX Team, the All-Region IX Division II Tournament Team and received Omaha World Herald Honorable Mention. She also received an Academic Region IX award in recognition of achieving a grade point average of 3.25 or higher.
“Alexa has been solid for us the past two years,” said Lady Knights Coach Sally Thalken. “She leads by example in the classroom, the gym, and in her personal life. She is a real student of the game…always thinking how to set up her teammates to beat the opposition. I’ve loved her competitiveness.”
Hopping said she has enjoyed her time at NPCC and learned a lot while playing with the Lady Knights.
“I like playing at the collegiate level because people are there for the same reasons and the mental toughness is about the same with everyone. They all seem to be about as competitive as I am,” she said. “I’ve also formed some good relationships during my time at the college.”
